学生時代はオールド・グローブ座やラホヤ・プレイハウス・WoW演劇祭で、新作から没入型演劇まで幅広い舞台作品に出演。
4分の1に日本人のルーツを持つジェイラニは大学卒業後、家族のルーツと文化を再発見するために日本に移住。活動の拠点を東京へと移す。
シェイクスピア作品など古典から新作新作映画まで、彼女の出演の場は多岐にわたる。
Jalani Blankenship is a versatile American actress based in Tokyo whose work in theater and film spans internationally. A graduate of the University of California, San Diego with a BA in Theatre, she brings a rigorous academic foundation to her presence and emotional depth on stage and in film.
In San Diego, she had the opportunity to perform at The Old Globe and in the La Jolla Playhouse WoW Festival in new and immersive theatre productions.
Blankenship is one quarter Japanese, and moved to Japan to rediscover her family’s roots and culture.
Her previous work ranges from classical and Shakespearean texts to premiering in new play festivals, in addition to a variety of genre films.
Blankenship’s recent screen appearances include the award-winning short film Last Cigarette (2024), and Jane (2019). On stage, she has performed most recently as Ophelia in Hamlet and Mary in The Little Fellow.
Her artistic practice emphasizes collaborative process, physical storytelling, and the transformative potential of performance.
She is passionate about intercultural and experimental performance art.
